Sanitas - The Data Sanitizer
Sanitas is a local-first Chrome extension for replacing sensitive text with placeholders before ChatGPT use, then restoring placeholders locally.
What Sanitas Does
Sanitas runs in your browser. In Real to Dummy mode, it replaces supported sensitive values with stable placeholders such as [[EMAIL_0001]] and [[IPV4_0001]]. In Dummy to Real mode, it restores known placeholders locally from the current browser session.
Local-Only Safety Model
Sanitas has no backend, telemetry, analytics, remote scripts, or network calls. It does not auto-submit prompts and does not expose direct Insert or Capture controls. Users manually copy sanitized placeholder text into ChatGPT and manually paste placeholder replies back into Sanitas.
Storage Boundary
Temporary mappings, custom terms, DSN rules, and workspace text are stored only in browser session storage through the extension service worker. Harmless preferences are stored in local storage.
